Promise to ‘look again’ at narrow Newport road
Written on April 4, 2021
Councillors are considering steps to improve a narrow road that has no footpath and is used by schoolchildren daily.
Longford Road between Newport and Longford connects the Haberdashers’ Adams Grammar School in Newport town centre with boarding accommodation at Longford Hall.
The site is home to approximately 50 boys in Years 7 to 10 and also hosts activities like orienteering.
In some sections the road is only wide enough for one car and has no footpath, despite very high hedges and some blind turns.
