Telford and Wrekin to mark NHS anniversary on 5 July

Written by on July 1, 2020

Telford and Wrekin Council will be joining in celebrations to mark the NHS’s 72nd birthday by thanking everyone who has supported the NHS during Coronavirus.

People in Telford and Wrekin are being encouraged to applaud the heroes of the pandemic with family and friends this Sunday, July 5 at 17:00pm, the anniversary of the NHS.

Shaun Davies, leader of Telford and Wrekin Council, said: “We don’t just want to applaud local NHS staff, but everyone in the local community who did their bit during lockdown.

“It’s a chance for us to thank those who are risking so much to keep us safe –from porters and cleaners to doctors and shelf stackers – all of the key workers everywhere who have kept us going.

Andy Burford, cabinet member for health and social care, said: “It is also a time to say thank you to our neighbours, those who kept an eye on each other, who did the shopping, got prescriptions or simply did their best to stay home and save lives.”

Get involved:

We are encouraging people to send us happy birthday wishes and messages for the NHS in the following ways:

  • Photo – individual or a socially distanced group landscape photo with drawn or written message of thanks.
  • Video – message, this could be singing dancing, or a simple message.

These messages will be used on our social media channels over the anniversary weekend.

Please post your photos/videos to Telford and Wrekin Council’s Facebook page with your name, and confirmation you have the permission of everyone included to send it to us.
