Newport hotel to expand with additional 33 rooms

Telford & Wrekin Council grants permission for Premier Inn to expand its hotel on Stafford Road next to the Mere Park Garden Centre.
Premier Inn’s owner, Whitbread, says it has recognised a requirement for additional rooms in the area given that the existing hotel is one of the groups best performing facilities in the region.
The hotel currently has 50 rooms, but will increase this to 83, over a three-storey extension, to be built in an area that is currently car parking and landscaping. The number of spaces in the car park is expected to reduce from 100 to 89, but the current 10 disabled bays will remain and will not be affected by the development.
A small increase in jobs at the hotel and the adjacent Beefeater restaurant is expected due to the expected increase in trade.
