The Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council has written to the Secretary of State for Health, calling on him to formally review last night’s decision over the future of hospital services.
The letter, from Councillor Shaun Davies to Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, follows the meeting of the ‘Future Fit’ Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin who choose and pay for health services in their respective areas. The CCG’s have agreed to downgrade the Accident and Emergency Department at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford to an urgent care centre and upgrade the County’s only remaining A&E department based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
